Tides by Eyeclimber

There are moments when I want to zone out. Get lost in nothingness. Or, simply to feel the song I’m listening to on a deeper level. It’s almost meditative. Tides by Eyeclimber is that kind of song. It’s kind of shoegaze-y, but I don’t enjoy trying to boil a song down to its genre label. The song is. It exists, and it’s worth listening.

Tides has some 80’s synthesizer sounds, a steady danceable beat, and a catchy hook. And, true to the title, Tides feels almost like you’re at the ocean, feeling the gentle mist of the sea.

ABOUT EYECLIMBER

Eyeclimber is the project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Dominik Feike. After several band attempts, the 24 year old decided to go solo in 2017. While writing and recording everything himself, he is joined by fellow musicians to perform the songs live.

What started as a simple singer-songwriter project has become more and more band oriented overtime. These days the music is a shift between Dream Pop and Neo Psychedelic. But Feike doesn’t like to be put in a box, “my influences are so varied, it would be impossible to stick to a certain genre for ten years or so.” Feike says, “I feel like stepping out of those defined genres and scenes is where the magic can be found.”

When asked about his influences, the German-born artist names bands like Beach House, Tame Impala or the Bee Gees. That makes sense, because when we take a closer listen, those bass lines really remind one of the classic late 70s disco tunes.
