Australian artist Joel James just released a new single and music video called “Movie Kind of Timing”. The song begins with a soft piano melody before James begins singing a vulnerable verse.
Looking back we didn’t even try,
It’s almost like someone designed it
Like that movie kind of timing
That movie kind of love
The words you spoke were only but a whisper
It’s almost like you tried to hide it
When our hands were intertwining
You said you liked me quite a lot
Then James builds up the tension just a little before retreating back to the vulnerability in the beginning. Then the song explodes. Big drums and the strength of James’ vocal resonates the intensity of a powerful love story.
I found my harmony
Something in the weakest part of me
James says, “the inspiration comes from meeting a special someone in such a way you would only see in film. What seemed all too perfect was turned on its head when the entire world was flipped upside down at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing that someone to fly back home pre-maturely, the distance ultimately ending what was a special moment.”

Joel James is an emerging independent artist based in Melbourne, Australia. A favored performer among local pubs and venues, James is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter and producer with a keen ear. Joel James first debuted with the single “Still Around”, which landed on Australia commercial radio and was featured on Gold Coast’s ‘Hot Tomato’ radio station.
