Another Kind of Love by Ida Wenøe

“Another Kind of Love” by Ida Wenøe is beautiful. A song you would hear in the blockbuster romance of the year. Probably just after the main character’s relationship appears to be shattered with no hope of reconciliation. Either that, or a slow dance at prom where the song is used to foreshadow the end of a summer fling.

The music is wonderful and simple, but what drew me in is Ida’s voice. It’s breathtaking. I want to cry. I want to smile. I’m reminded of all my past relationships, my faults, and my flaws.

Ida Wenøe sits at a bar with a half drunk glass of wine.

In her own words

“Through these songs I try to remind people to take the time to think, to love, to know love, to look around and to look inside ourselves. To dare to be, without being someone. To stop before walking, instead of running without thinking. Let the things we don’t know yet, be the things we don’t know yet, until we do. Find the patience to enjoy this moment instead of always running for the next one.”

“Another Kind of Love” has a similar vibe to two other incredible songs: “Flightless Bird American Mouth” by Iron and Wine, and that’s actually the very first thought I had when the song began. With the sound of the choir in the background over the soft guitars. The second, and perhaps more well-known, is “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. Which likely does not need more of an explanation here from me.

To me, “Another Kind of Love” is the perfect medium between the two songs. And, I think, Ed Sheeran would likely say, “Another Kind of Love” is perfect tonight.
