Eyes by Wild Firth

Some mornings, I listen to song after song, waiting for something to grab me. A hook, a lyric, a great guitar tone, whatever. A lot of mornings I’m left wanting. This morning was not one of them. “Eyes” by Minneapolis’ Wild Firth is an attention-grabbing dream ride.

Awash with dreamy textures, ethereal background vocals, a driving backbeat, and jangling guitars that ride the edge of shoegaze and indie-pop. Wild Firth have created a remarkable work.

At just over two minutes long, “Eyes” is breathtaking in its simplicity. Straightforward chords ring in a swirl of spring reverb, building faster and opening wide into the chorus. “Eyes” feels like it’s ever-expanding and continually speeding up until it crashes and falls out spectacularly at the very end.

The band’s new album, Lawn Memory, is set to release in April 2019. You can find the band on bandcamp, and facebook.
